Introduction:
The DNA of an individual carries the genomic information. DNA methylation is the process of addition of a methyl group to the carbon-5 of the cytosine (C) residue. The process of the DNA methylation is essential for normal development. It plays a major role in various molecular biology processes, like repression of transposable elements, X-chromosome inactivation, genomic imprinting, aging, and carcinogenesis.
