The nucleosome is a major eukaryotic complex of proteins and DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), where DNA is wrapped around proteins. These proteins are called histones and are eight in number inside a nucleosome. Histones can regulate gene expression as they can undergo modifications, such as, acetylation and methylation.
