Introduction:
ACh (Acetylcholine) receptors for the transmission of nerve impulses based on acetylcholine are located in the brain, autonomic ganglia, and skeletal muscles (nicotinic), smooth and cardiac muscles, and some glands (muscarinic). The nicotinic receptors produce a stimulatory effect on skeletal muscle cells and they are named after nicotine as they can be activated by it. The muscarinic receptors are named as their effects can be seen by activation of muscarine.
