Question
Chapter 7, Problem 11CP
Summary Introduction
To review:
The following:
Comparison of the properties of EPSPs and action potentials.
Identification of the location where neurons are produced and stimulation of action potentials with the help of EPSPs.
Introduction:
Action potential is generated in the first or initial segment of the axon and it acts as a stimulus of depolarization to the next axon segment. This process carries on to the successive segments. As the name represents, excitatory postsynaptic potentials (EPSP) stimulate the postsynaptic cells, in order to produce action potentials.
