Question
Chapter 7, Problem 19RA
Summary Introduction
To review:
Comparison of action and synaptic potentials in terms of voltage values and conduction of nerve impulses.
Introduction:
Action potentials are generated in response to a stimulus caused by depolarization of a membrane. Synaptic potentials are generated by binding of neurotransmitters to voltage gated or chemical (ligand gated) channels. They can be either excitatory or inhibitory post synaptic potential (EPSP and IPSP).
