Concept introduction:
Cost Volume Profit (CVP) Analysis:
The Cost Volume Profit analysis is the analysis of the relation between cost, volume, and profit of a product. It analyzes the cost and profits at the different level of production, in order to determine the breakeven point and required the level of sales to earn the desired profit.
Contribution margin means the margin that is left with the company after recovering variable cost out of revenue earned by selling smart phones. The formula for contribution margin is as follows:
Contribution margin = Sales - Variable cost.
Similarly contribution margin ratio = Contribution/sales
Breakeven Point:
The Breakeven point is the level of sales at which the net profit is nil. It can be explained as a situation where the business is generating a sale that is equal to the expenses incurred and hence no

The break-even point is 2. Production has indicated that they can produce widgets at a cost of P4.00 each if they lease new equipment at a cost of P10,000. Marketing has estimated the number of units they can sell at a number of prices (Php4000) Which price/volume option will allow the firm to avoid losing money on this project? 3. A food repacking company estimates sales figures of Php15.5M for their most popular item. Assuming that the item sells at Php375 each, fixed costs are Php4M, and variable cost are Php215 per unit repacked. a. What is the break-even sales volume? b. Find the corresponding profit figures if the actual sales will be as estimated. 4. A manufacturer can sell a certain health supplement for P1,100 per unit. Its total cost consists of a fixed overhead of Php75,000 plus production costs of…arrow_forwardb) Ceria Company plans to sell 5,000 bicycle helmets at RM75 each in the coming year. Variable cost is 60% of the sales price; contribution margin is 40% of the sales price. Total fixed cost equals RM49,500 (includes fixed factory overhead and fixed selling and administrative expense). Required: Calculate the sales income that Ceria must make to break even by using the break- even point in sales equation. Check your answer by preparing a contribution margin income statement based on the break-even point in sales value (RM).arrow_forward
- REQUIRED Answer each of the following questions independently. As far as possible use the expanded contribution margin model to present your answers. Calculate the total Contribution Margin and Operating Profit (Loss) if all 30 000 pallets are Sold. .calculate the margin of safety (as a percentage) for 2022 Use the contribution margin ratio to calculate the sales value required to achieve an operating profit of R6 000 000. Suppose an additional R300 000 is spent on advertising in order to increase the sales by 3 000 Calculate the number of pallets that need to be produced and sold to break even. Suppose the management team of…arrow_forwardIn the upcoming year, NUBD estimates that it will produce and sell 4,000 units. The variable costs per unit and the total fixed costs are expected to be the same as in the current year. However, it anticipates a sales price of P16 per unit. What is Value Pro's projected margin of safety for the coming year?arrow_forwardPlanck, the new owner of the vehicle accessory shop, is considering buying sets of winter tyres for $ 299 per set and selling each set at $ 520. Fixed costs related to this operation amount to $ 3250 per month. It is expected that 18 sets per month could be sold. How much profit will Planck make each month? Round to the nearest one. Hint: use the contribution margin approach.arrow_forward
- Based on the description below, answer the questions that follow. The manager of a local restaurant spends $8,500 for its monthly fixed cost. Its variable cost is $9 per customer. Determine the amount of its Contribution Margin (CM) to generate the EBT of $6,500. (Do not put "$" or "," in your answer. Put only the number. For example put 10000 for $10,000. FYI, the Canvas will put "" automatically by itself. If necessary, round your answer to the nearest dollar.arrow_forwardFaldo Company produces a single product. The projected income statement for the coming year, based on sales of 200,000 units, is as follows: Required: 1. Compute the unit contribution margin and the units that must be sold to break even. Suppose that 30,000 units are sold above the break-even point. What is the profit? 2. Compute the contribution margin ratio and the break-even point in dollars. Suppose that revenues are 200,000 greater than expected. What would the total profit be? 3. Compute the margin of safety in sales revenue. 4. Compute the operating leverage. Compute the new profit level if sales are 20 percent higher than expected. 5. How many units must be sold to earn a profit equal to 10 percent of sales? 6. Assume the income tax rate is 40 percent. How many units must be sold to earn an after-tax profit of 180,000?arrow_forwardSchylar Pharmaceuticals, Inc., plans to sell 130,000 units of antibiotic at an average price of 22 each in the coming year. Total variable costs equal 1,086,800. Total fixed costs equal 8,000,000. (Round all ratios to four significant digits, and round all dollar amounts to the nearest dollar.) Required: 1. What is the contribution margin per unit? What is the contribution margin ratio? 2. Calculate the sales revenue needed to break even. 3. Calculate the sales revenue needed to achieve a target profit of 245,000. 4. What if the average price per unit increased to 23.50? Recalculate: a. Contribution margin per unit b. Contribution margin ratio (rounded to four decimal places) c. Sales revenue needed to break even d. Sales revenue needed to achieve a target profit of 245,000arrow_forward
- Delta Co. sells a product for $150 per unit. The variable cost per unit is $90 and fixed costs are $15,250. Delta Co.s tax rate is 36% and the company wants to earn $44,000 after taxes. What would be Deltas desired pre-tax income? What would be break-even point in units to reach the income goal of $44,000 after taxes? What would be break-even point in sales dollars to reach the income goal of $44000 after taxes? Create a contribution margin income statement to show that the break-even point calculated in B, generates the desired after-tax income.arrow_forwardMarikina Shoe Manufacturing Company will produce a special-style shoe if the order size is large enough to provide a reasonable profit. For each special -style order, the company incurs a fixed cost of P20,000 for the production set up. The variable cost is P600 per pair, and each pair sells for P800. a. Let x indicate the number of pairs of shoes produced. Develop a mathematical model for total cost of producing x paiars of shoes. b. Let P indicate the total profit.
