Question
Chapter 14, Problem 3RA
Summary Introduction
To determine:
Incorrect statement about the interstitial fluid.
Introduction:
The interstitial fluid (IF) between the cells is a type of extracellular fluid (ECF). All the cells within the body are bordered by extracellular fluid (ECF). There are two main constituents of extracellular fluid: a fluid component of the blood (called plasma) and other one is the interstitial fluid (IF) that surrounds all non-blood cells.

a. Urine output is 15 mL over the last hour
b. Central venous pressure (CVP) is 15 mm Hg
c. Mean arterial pressure (MAP) is 59 mm Hg
d. Hemoglobin is within normal limits
Patients with kidney disease lose plasma albumin in their urine. This loss of plasma proteins may lead to edema in these patients’ tissues. Use what you know about capillary filtration and reabsorption to explain why this edema occurs. The answer must include an explanation of what edema is.
