Summary Introduction

To review:

The process of arterial blood flow diversion from one system to another.

Introduction:

Cardiovascular system is constituted by the heart, blood vessels and blood. The heart has been assigned with the task of pumping blood through the vessels of the circulatory system. The blood has the role of providing the body with oxygen and nutrients. The heart lies in the middle compartment of the chest. A human heart has four chambers namely left atrium, left ventricle, right atrium and left ventricle.

Explain why arterial blood flow is pulsatile and venous flow is not.
Predict the effect of each of the following conditions on blood flow:(a) vasoconstriction of blood vessels in the skin in response to coldexposure, (b) vasodilation of blood vessels in the skin in response toelevated body temperature, and (c) erythrocytosis, which results in agreatly increased hematocrit.
List four factors that may affect arterial blood pressure.
