Introduction:

Transduction is a process in which a bacteriophage carries the host DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) from one cell to another. It is of two types, generalized transduction and specialized transduction. Generalized transduction is a process in which the phage can take any gene from the donor and transfer it into the recipient. Specialized transduction is a process that can only transfer some closely linked genes.
