Given:

Electromagnetis a temporary magnet. It is made by using a current carrying wire around a core of ferromagnetic material.
The direction of magnetic field is given by right hand curl rule.
For the given figure the current will go inside from the pointed end.
Now on curling the fingers in the direction of current, the thumb point towards right.
It means the magnetic field lines are originating from pointed end.
So, the pointed end is north pole since magnetic field lines originate from north pole and terminates in south pole.
