Introduction:
A magnet is a material in which domains are aligned in one direction and so, it is able to attract other magnetic materials. A magnet has two poles- a pole is called North pole and another is called South pole.
A compass needle is a magnetic needle. The pole marked N on the compass points towards geographical north pole which is opposite to Earth’s magnetic south pole. When a magnet is touched to the compass, its magnetic field influences the magnetic field of the compass needle. The needle aligns as per the nearby magnetic field.
