A magnet is an object that produces its own magnetic field and interacts with external magnetic fields. A magnet has two poles- north and south.
The strength of the magnetic field is represented by lines. Closer the lines, stronger is the magnetic field. Therefore, from the magnetic field is the strongest at the poles as the field lines are closer at the poles.
