Introduction:
A magnet is a material in which domains are aligned in one direction and so, it is able to attract other magnetic materials. A magnet has two poles- a pole is called North pole and another is called South pole.
A compass needle is a magnetic needle. Its north pole is attracted by the magnetic south pole of the Earth. The magnetic axis is aligned opposite to the geographical axis. So, the pole marked N on the compass points towards geographical north pole which is opposite to Earth’s magnetic south pole.
