The differences between the classical and alternative pathways of complement activation.
Introduction:
The complement cascade is formed by a series of 20 proteins that are found in serum, they are also referred to as complement factors. This system attacks the bacterial invaders by inducing pores in their membranes and causing cytoplasmic leakage. Alternatively, this system can facilitate phagocytosis by white blood cells. The activation of complement system can be done by three pathways, the classical pathway, the alternative pathway, and the lectin pathway.
