Chapter 24, Problem 1TQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

The reason behind clearing the infection by the lysis of membrane of host cell carrying pathogens by cytotoxic T cells rather than spreading the infection.

Introduction:

T cells are also referred to as thymic lymphocytes. These cells develop in the thymus gland of the human body. They are responsible for the activation of an immune response against pathogenic infection. They are mainly associated with cellular immunity. They identify the pathogen and eliminate it from the body. The T cells activate B cells (Bone marrow lymphocytes) to produce antibodies against the antigen of the bacteria.

Suppose a bacterial pathogen enters a human host. Which of the following cells will act first and which one will act last: Macrophages, T-helper cells, Neutrophils? Describe the functions of these cells in the order they get activated.
