The activation of T cells by superantigens.
Introduction:
The substances that can induce an immune response in the body, more specifically the production of antibody are termed as antigens. Biochemically the antigens can be proteins or sugars. These antigens bind to potentially harmful substances and neutralize their effect. The class of antigens that create an exaggerated response of the immune system are called superantigens. Superantigens non-specifically activate T cells.
