Concept Introduction:
The carbon atoms in an organic compound are linked to four different groups. This type of linking is known as an asymmetric carbon atom. It is also known as chiral carbon.
All carbon atoms in a compound that is not bonded with four different groups is known as achiral carbon atom.
If two or more compounds have the same molecular formula but different arrangements of atoms in a compound, they are known as isomers.
