Concept introduction:
Many molecules and ions can be represented by more than one Lewis structure and they differ only in the position of their electrons. This structure is known as the resonance structure.
Resonance describes the delocalization of electrons within a molecule.
Movement of electrons in the molecule is depicted by curved arrows.
During resonance, the created anion on the oxygen atoms are neutralized by the positive charge on sulfur.
