Certain proteins, after translation, are transported outside the membrane and this movement of protein out of the cytoplasm is called secretion. Many protein secretion systems transport the proteins from cytoplasm into the membrane or to the extracellular space. There exist some protein carriers that deliver the proteins to both the sites.
