RNA- ribonucleic acid, RNA is a polymer of nucleotides that is consists of a ribose sugar, a phosphate, and bases. The three main types of RNA are present in a cell and these are− messenger RNA (mRNA), ribosomal RNA (rRNA), and transfer RNA (tRNA).

DNA- deoxyribonucleic acid, it is a genetic material for a cell. Mainly it is found in the nucleus of the cell.

Answer to Problem 32A

rRNA is located in the cytoplasm of the cell. This is smaller than the DNA polymer.

Explanation of Solution

The molecule in cells that are participating in the protein-synthesizing is known as a ribosome. rRNAfound in the cytoplasm, it helps to carry the information in messenger RNA (mRNA) into protein.

rRNAs combine with proteins and enzymes in the cytoplasm to form ribosomes. It provided the site for protein synthesis. Its size is smaller than DNA polymer, ribosomal RNA is consists of larger and smaller subunits.

Conclusion

From the different types of RNA, rRNA is present outside the nucleus of a cell. Ribosomal RNA is formed by two subunits. The size of the DNA polymer is greater than the ribosomal RNA.
