Introduction:
Monosaccharides can be mainly reduced by sodium borohydride (NaBH4) or Hydrogen (H2)/ Nickel (Ni). When monosaccharides are reduced, they are converted to alcohols. Isomerization of monosaccharides also occurs, in which atoms are rearrange, dut the molecular formula remains the same. Monosaccharides form a glycosidic linkage with each other to form glycoside.
