The insulin hormone plays a pivotal role in maintaining the glucose levels in the blood. The increased blood glucose level triggers the release of insulin hormone which in turn decreases the blood glucose level. Glucagon hormone works in the opposite direction of insulin. Glucagon raises the level of glucose in the blood.
