Summary Introduction

To review:

The role of recombinant DNA technology (RDT) in genetic studies.

Introduction:

RDT is a technique that is used for creating recombinant DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) molecule containing DNA from two different sources. RDT involves digestion of a vector molecule with a restriction enzyme (called molecular scissor) that cuts the DNA at their specific sites called restriction sites. Enzymes that cut DNA molecule are known as restriction enzymes. The two DNA then mixed and joined with the help of DNA ligase by forming a phosphodiester bond between two adjacent nucleotides. RDT is used for crop improvement, increasing protein quantity, and creating genomic and cDNA libraries. RDT allows studying the gene expression in an organism, which is independent of nonexpressed DNA.

Discuss the concept of the use of DNA in genome identification.
Examine the DNA fragment sequence below. Your job is to design primers for PCR that would be able to amplify this DNA fragment. Design the primers so that they are 7 bases in length.  Don’t forget to indicate direction (polarity) of the primers. Also describe where the primer would bind (i.e. top or bottom strand, left or right side of the DNA strand). Please organize your response so that each primer, and associated information, is separated by at least one blank line  5’ - TCCACTTGCTGTGTAGCTAAATCATATAACAG3’ - AGGTGAACGACACATCGATTTAGTATATTGAC
RECOMBINANT DNA BRIEFLY, DESCRIBE RECOMBINANT DNA AND GIVE ONE CONCRETE EXAMPLE. EVALUATE THE SIGNIFICANCE/PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF THIS DNA TECHNOLOGY BY CONSIDERING ETHICAL AND MORAL IMPLICATIONS BEHIND IT.  RECOMBINANT DNA   EXAMPLE: MODIFIED TRAIT GENE MODIFICATION RECIPIENT ORGANISM FIELDS OF APPLICATION                 ALSO, WHAT ARE YOUR INSIGHTS?
