The metabolic pathway of fat being used as an energy source and the mechanism of
Introduction:
In a healthy individual, 85% of the body’s energy is stored as fat. Fat stored in white adipose tissue is used as an energy source. Lipolysis, gluconeogenesis, and beta-oxidation are the processes in synthesizing ATP from fats. A gram of fat provides nine kilocalories of energy, whereas only four kilocalories are released from a gram of carbohydrates.
