Concept explainers
To discuss:
The behavior of birds based on the location of their eyes.
Introduction:
A way in which any animals respond to environmental change is known as behavior. This environmental change that affects the directly to the organism is known as the stimulus. These behaviors of animals can be genetically or due to environmental influence.
Explanation of Solution
Every organism evolved with the characters that make them fit to survive and reproduce. These characters can be genetically or developed due to environmental change. Every species have their distinct features based on the environment they live and the food they eat. In the two birds given eyes of pigeon are on the sides because they are herbivores and don’t hunt prey to eat them. An eye on the side of a pigeon helps them to have a wide range of vision which is useful for detecting the predators whereas in eagle eyes are on their heads because they are carnivores and they hunt animals for their food. The eyes in front of the head have binocular vision and this helps them to detect the distance while hunting.
The location of the eyes in pigeon reveals that they are herbivores and don’t hunt other animals for food, whereas the location of the eyes in eagle reveals that they are carnivores and hunt other animals for their food.
