Epidermis is the outermost layer of skin that helps the skin in protecting it from invading predators. Dermis is present beneath the epidermis that carries hair follicles and sweat glands.
Explanation of Solution
Dermis consists of sweat glands and oil glands. These sweat glands present in the dermis help in maintaining the body temperature. So in absence of dermis, this function might get affected.
The role of skin in body homeostasis, fighting predators and protection against infections will be affected adversely if there will be no dermis.
In the absence of dermis the protection against infections will be lost.
