Explanation of Solution

The life cycle of butterflies occurs in four stages firstly egg is formed then a caterpillar is formed from an egg which is also known as a larva. The chrysalis is formed from a caterpillar and is known as a pupa. From pupa, a butterfly is formed.

The life cycle of grasshopper occurs in three stages firstly egg is formed than an intermediate is known as a nymph is formed from an egg after two weeks. Nymph formed develops into an adult into four to seven weeks.

The life cycle of butterflies occurs in four stages and the life cycle of grasshopper occurs in three stages. In grasshopper, incomplete metamorphosis occurs, whereas in the life cycle of butterflies complete metamorphosis occurs. The only common thing between the life cycles of both is that they both start their life cycle from an egg.

Conclusion

The life cycle of both a butterfly and grasshopper starts with an egg. A grasshopper’s life cycle completes only in three stages and only one intermediate stage is between an egg and an adult, whereas the butterfly’s life cycle completes in four stages and two intermediate stages are formed between egg and an adult butterfly.
