Stomach is a muscular bag-like structure that lies in the upper abdominal cavity next to the diaphragm. The stomach is a J-shaped organ. The stomach is a major organ for the digestion process. It functions as a storage organ for food. The food is mechanically broken down into smaller particles, food is liquefied, chemical digestion of fat and proteins starts in the stomach.
