Question
Chapter 25, Problem 50A
To determine
To Explain: The current through motor decreases when the speed of motor increases.
Expert Solution & Answer
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Motor’s speed can be varied by varying the amount of current in the field and in the armature.
On decrease of the field current, the flux of the field reduces which leads to decrease in the EMF which allows more armature current. In turn motor speeds up.
Conclusion:
Therefore, the current through motor decreases as the speed of the motor increases.
