Concept Introduction: The type of bonding in a molecule depends on the atoms which are involved in bonding. The relative strength of bonds depends on the interaction between two atoms. Explanation of Solution
A hydrogen bond is formed between a molecule having a hydrogen atom covalently bonded with an electronegative atom (hydrogen bond donor) and another electronegative atom having lone pair of electrons (hydrogen bond acceptor).
For example, water molecules. In a water molecule, a hydrogen atom is covalently bonded with an electronegative oxygen atom. To form a hydrogen atom, the other molecule must have an electronegative atom with lone pair of electrons. The hydrogen bonding between two water molecules is possible.
