Introduction: Respiration is the process of movement of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the environment and the body tissues. The respiration rate is the speed at which breathing occurs. The respiratory rate is controlled by the respiratory center and is usually measured in a number of breaths per minute. In a normal human adult, the respiratory rate is 12 to 18 breathes per minute.
