Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease, which causes the increased concentration of sugar in the blood. Diabetes is classified into two types. Type 1 diabetes is where insulin producing beta (β) cells are destroyed by their own immune cells. Type 2 diabetes is classified as non-functional insulin. Insulin is a hormone that regulates the blood sugar level in humans.
