Chapter 28.2, Problem 2TQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

The patient with a higher viral load in the blood while testing for HIV RNA.

Introduction:

RT-qPCR (Reverse transcriptase quantitative polymerase chain) is a variation of a polymerase chain reaction that measures the level of RNA (ribonucleic acid) expression. It is used to diagnose viral pathogens such as the West Nile virus as it has a single-stranded RNA. This RNA can be converted into cDNA (complementary deoxyribonucleic acid) by the reverse transcriptase and through this method, the number of viruses in the sample is identified.
