Introduction:
Blood agar contains red blood cells and acts as a solid growth medium. It is prepared by adding sterilized heart infusion, peptone, and sodium chloride to sterilized blood. The blood can be taken from a rabbit or sheep. Usually, rabbit blood is taken when the target bacteria is from a group of Streptococcus and sheep blood is preferred when the target bacteria is Haemophilus parahaemolyticus.
