Uropathogenic Escherichia coli is the causative agent of urinary tract infections (UTI). Other pathogens associated with UTI are Pseudomonas, Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Proteus,and Staphylococcus aureus among others. It is the second most common type of infection after respiratory tract infection.
