Chapter 20, Problem 42A
Summary Introduction

To analyze:

The course of action that must be followed to eradicate the fungus.

Introduction:

Fungi can be either single or very complex multicellular organisms. They are present in almost any environment, but most of them live on the ground, often in soil or herb. There are a variety of fungal soybean diseases which can have a major effect on seed quality. The most popular are seed decay of Phomopsis, purple seed stain of Cercospora, seed spot of Frogeye root, Anthracnose, etc. Such infected seed diseases may have reduced storability, reduced germination, and seed weight loss and reduced quality of meal and oil.

Explanation of Solution

The eradication of fungus depends on the organism they are effecting. In humans or animals the fungal diseases are controlled by providing antifungal drugs. In crops, to avoid the fungal effect optimum storage conditions must be followed that results in free of seeds from fungi or other pests, clean seed without organic or other waste material, less moisture, and cool uniform storage temperature.

Conclusion

The fungal infection can be controlled by maintaining certain process such as maintenance of optimum storage condition, providing antifungal drug, etc.
