Concept explainers
To analyze:
The three given pictures of protists.
Introduction:
Protists includes group of organism that are unicellular and microscopic. They have a highly organized cell that is nucleus and specialized organelles. Amoeba, paramecium, flagellated protists are found in this group, they live in different habitats.
Explanation of Solution
The first picture in the given image is of amoeba. It is single celled protists. The locomotion in amoeba is through sliding or crawling process. They have cytoplasmic projections that are also termed as pseudopodia that help in pulling the cell along.
The second picture is of Paramecium. It is a single celled protist. The locomotion in paramecium is through cilia, it helps the forward and backward movement of the cell.
The last picture is identified as flagellated protists. The movement in this organism shows whip-like movement with the help of flagella.
The first picture in the given image is of amoeba, second one is of paramecium, and third is flagella.
