Summary Introduction

To review:

Patentability of genetically modified organisms and sequenced genes.

Introduction:

Genetically engineered bacteria, owing to their basic biology, were the first species to be changed in the laboratory. Such bacteria are now used for a number of purposes and are particularly important for processing large amount of human proteins for use in medicine. Genes and other genetic information from a diverse range of species may be transferred to the plasmid and introduced into the bacteria for preservation and alteration.
