Introduction:

There are various types of biochemical reactions that are performed by the cell in order to perform its functions. A free energy change or Gibbs free energy change (ΔG) is the energy that is available to perform a function. The change in enthalpy (ΔH) and change in entropy (ΔS) are two components of ΔG. ΔH is a measure of heat released or absorbed during the reaction while ΔS depends on the number and stability of products formed.
