Drugs that are used to treat the microbial infections are commonly referred to as antimicrobial agents. Antimicrobials can be divided into two groups that are broad-spectrum and narrow-spectrum. Broad-spectrum are effective for more than one group of microorganisms. Narrow-spectrum drugs are effective against a specific group of microorganism.
