The phenomenon of synergism is applied to achieve better results in order to treat cancer. The synergistic effect is produced when one drug works in cooperation with other. The combined effect of two drugs is greater than their individual effect. When multiple drugs are used at a time they result in the halt of cancer cell growth at various steps. Generally, the drugs target the steps of the cell cycle and signaling molecules, which contributes to cell growth and proliferation.
