The weight of the steel bar is 1.6 N

Explanation of Solution

Maas is the quantity of matter, and it remains unchanged on any surface.

The acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the moon is given as,

  $g\text{'}=\left(\frac{1}{6}\right)\times 9.8{\text{m s}}^{-2}.$

Substitute 1 kg for m and $\left(\frac{1}{6}\right)\times 9.8{\text{m s}}^{-2}$ for g in the above formula.

  $\begin{array}{l}W=1\text{kg}\times \left(\frac{1}{6}\right)\times 9.8{\text{m s}}^{-2}\\ =1.6\text{N}\end{array}$

The mass remains unchanged and the weight of the steel bar on the moon's surface is 1.6 N.
