Interpretation:
Is granite a substance or mixture?
Concept Introduction :
Granite is representative of a large class of granites called granites, which are mainly composed of feldspar and quartz with varying amounts of coarse-grained quartz.
Answer to Problem 92A
Granite is a mixture.
Explanation of Solution
Igneous rock includes granite. Intrusive and extrusive are the two primary subcategories of igneous rocks. When subsurface magma (liquid rock) solidifies, intrusive igneous rocks are created.
The heterogeneous mixture is granite. Either all the ingredients are thoroughly combined when several are combined, or not. Heterogeneous mixtures are not uniformly or thoroughly blended. Because we can see the different mineral crystals in granite, we can infer that they weren't fully and evenly mixed. In other words, granite is heterogeneous, and its composition is not constant.
Thus, granite is a mixture.
