Chapter 27.3, Problem 3TQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
The appearance of colonies on the agar plate.
Introduction:
MacConkey agar medium is a selective and differential culture medium for bacteria. It is designed to isolate the Gram-negative bacilli and separate them based on lactose fermentation. Lactose allows for differentiation by providing the source for fermentable carbohydrates. A culture or growth medium is a solid or liquid medium that is used to promote bacterial growth as they contain all essential nutrients.
