Explanation of Solution

Types of flowering plant:

Day-neutral plant − It is a kind of plant that flowers without being dependent upon the length of the period of light it received throughout the day. Example − rice and corn plant.

Intermediate-day plant − These plants cannot be categorized into longer days plants or shorter days plants. Such plants require longer days than short day plants, and shorter days than long day plants. Example is sugarcane.

Long-day plant − Such plants flower only when they are exposed to longer light periods than certain critical length, like in summer. Example is spinach plant.

Short-day plant − Such plants require longer period of darkness as compared to period of light. Example − Christmas cactus.

Part of flowering plant:

Petal − Petals are basically modified leaves that function to protect the reproductive parts of flower. Petals are bright in color to attract pollinators.

Pistil − Pistil is the female reproductive organ of flower. The pistil contains ovary in its swollen base. Ovary further contains ovules that take part in fertilization.

Sepal − Sepal is usually green in color, but is some flowers, it is of same color as of petals. The main function of sepal is to protect the flower when it is a bud.

Stamen − Stamen is the reproductive organ of the flower that produces pollen grains.
