Transamination is also known as an amino transfer. It is a chemical reaction that takes place between two molecules. One is an amino acid that contains an amine or -NH2 group and the other is a keto acid having a keto (=O) group. Pyridoxal phosphate is the active form of vitamin B6. It is a coenzyme in most of the enzymatic reactions and transamination reactions.
