Pyruvate formed by glycolysis is converted into acetyl CoA. Acetyl CoA acts as a fuel in the Krebs cycle. The citric acid cycle is a catabolic process. It is also known as the TCA cycle or Krebs cycle. It is a series of chemical reactions in which the stored energy of the body is released by the oxidation of acetyl-Coenzyme A.
