Reduction potential (E) is the tendency of the compound to accept electrons and is measured in volts (V) or millivolts (mV). A positive E value represents a negative ∆G (change in Gibbs energy) indicating a gain of electrons whereas negative value of E indicates the reverse reaction (loss of electrons) that yields energy.
