For calculating partial pressure of component gas and the total pressure, the Dalton’s law partial pressure is used.

According to this law

  P=P1+P2+P3

  P = total pressure.

  P1 = Partial pressure of gas - a

  P3 = Partial pressure of gas − c

For calculating partial pressure of O2 and He, putting the values.

From Ideal gas equation,

  n = no. of moles =mass(m)molecular massno. of moles of O2=4.032=0.12

No. of moles of He = 44=1

  PT=nTRTVPT=(n1+n2)RTVPT=(1.12+1)0.0821×3385PT=1.12×0.0821×3385=31.075

  PT=31.075=6.21atmPT=(P1+P2)

For calculating partial pressure of O2

  P1PT=n1nTP1=n1nT×PT

For calculating Partial pressure of He,

  P2PT=n2nT

  P2=n2nT×PTP2=11.12×6.21=6.211.12=5.54atmP2=5.54atm

Partial pressure of O2=0.66atm

Partial pressure of He=5.54atm

Total pressure of gases =6.20atm
