Chapter 10, Problem 42RA
Summary Introduction
To review:
1. The disturbances caused by the damaged pigment epithelium.
2. The relationship between damaged pigment epithelium and macular degeneration.
Introduction:
There exists a layer of epithelial cells and is highly pigmented, it is termed as pigment epithelium. This layer is present between the photoreceptors in the retina and the choroid. It serves as a barrier in order to avoid the diffusion of substances from the choroid to the retina.
